Chandler Morris is aiming for a comeback, but there’s a catch

The Virginia football the team is ranked 19th in the polls and has an 8-2 record in Week 11. The Cavaliers face the Duke Blue Devils on the road in another ACC game, and Virginia is in a four-way tie with Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh and SMU atop the ACC standings. unfortunately, Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris is in concussion protocolblowing up his status.
On Thursday, an update has appeared on Morris, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
“Sources tell @On3sports that Virginia KB Chandler Morris remains in the concussion protocol and is considered questionable for Saturday vs. Duke. There is legitimate hope he can play this weekend. He will continue to be evaluated until kickoff.”
on friday, another update has arrivedthis time from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
“Sources: Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris is progressing toward a return to action Saturday, and there is optimism he will start for Virginia (8-2, 5-1) at Duke (5-4, 4-1). Morris continues to clear protocols, and a final decision on his status is not expected until the game.”
So Morris is getting closer to a return, but as of Thursday he was still in the concussion protocol, which could make it difficult to play on Saturday.
This comes on the heels Virginia’s 16-9 loss to Wake Forestgame in which Morris got injured and was replaced by Daniel Kelin. It was the first ACC loss of the season, and the absence of Morris was difficult to overcome.
Still, there’s a chance Morris could play Saturday against Duke, and there’s one more regular-season game against Virginia Tech on Nov. 29 as Virginia tries to make the ACC title game.
