Chandler Parsons decodes Karl-Anthony Towns’ weird trademark-fueling comments

on wednesday The New York Knicks will start their 2025-26 NBA season with a home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will be the first game for the Knicks under the leadership of head coach Mike Brownwho was hired to replace Tom Thibodeau this offseason, following New York’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Most recently, the Knicks are the center Karl-Anthony Towns raised his eyebrows when asked about his role on the team, saying, “I don’t know, but we’re getting it,” per Christian Winfield of the New York Daily News .

One person upset by those comments is the former NBA forward Chandler Parsonswho recently participated in the FanDuel show “Run It Back” in address his thoughts.

“To me, it’s one of two things. Either he hates the role that his new coach Mike Brown has given him because he’s been there all summer. He’s had all the training camps with him. So for him to say I don’t know, he’s not thrilled about it because he knows what it is,” Parsons said. “To me, it just means that he’s not dealing with any role in the offense that the new coach has created, because you don’t just say that the day before the season starts and you don’t expect this kind of reaction. This is crazy.”

“There might be some truth to the (trade) rumors,” co-host DeMarcus Cousins said.

“KAT in Milwaukee,” Parsons predicted.

Parsons never disclosed what the other option of his “one of two things” warning was.

A troubling quote for Knicks fans

While it’s entirely possible that Towns meant nothing with his quote and is genuinely looking forward to exploring what he can be in the Browns’ offensive system this season, it’s never a great sign when your second-best player openly discusses his confusion with the season just days away.

Last year, the Knicks used Towns heavily in pick-and-pop situations, but they bizarrely drifted away from him somewhat as the playoffs progressed.

It remains to be seen what types of sets Brown will want to use with Towns’ unique skill set.

The Knicks and Cavaliers will tip off on Wednesday at 7:00 PM ET from Madison Square Garden.
