Change is not in Sacramento for now…

“When I see the hate, the haters, the fakes, all of you, keep that energy. It’s good. Keep it, and you know who you are. And you know who you are because while you’re doing it, we’re going to work. And while you’re doing it, we’re going to thrive. And while you’re doing it, one day we’ll come – the Kings know how to be a pro.

Doug Christie did not spare any remarks towards some fans after the loss to the Nuggets and ahead of the complicated start of the season Kings. He even promised changes. Clearly, the match against the Hawks proved him wrong. The Californians were humiliated on their floor, they lost 100-133 and were up to 44 points behind.

At least while the match lasts, the “haters” have a reason to complain… “It’s embarrassing”, I can only admit technician after this severe setback. “People should be proud of what they see, not ashamed. This is unacceptable. Dot tape.”

Having specifically targeted his handlers, all substitutes to start the final quarter, Doug Christie was very angry. “I was embarrassed. I would like to be able to wear the jersey, at 55, to show that we deserved better than that. I would have made at least six mistakes. I can’t move anymore, but I will make mistakes.” he says, exasperated by the level of his functions.

“You can talk all you want, but we don’t fight with words.” We are not in a televised debate. It’s physical, it’s basketball.”

“They were +/- of -31, -38, -34, -20…”, he continues. “I’d like them to be leaders. They’re veterans so they have to lead things. The young players look up to them. I’m going to write to every youngster to tell them it’s unacceptable. Don’t even try to pretend it’s normal. No. I’m not going to let this go, not that shit. They need to lead by example. Is this what you want for the team, because you want to show it to the city more than show the city?” Kids, you have to respect basketball, and we weren’t there.

Given the results and behavior of managers like Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan or Dennis Schroeder (only 25 points between them, 8/23 shooting), does the coach’s talk really get through to the players?

“They say they want to fight. One thing I know is you can talk all you want, but we don’t fight with words.”Doug Christie answers. “We’re not in a televised debate. It’s physical, it’s basketball. So you can tell me that all day, you can tell it to yourself, to your teammates, but it’s another thing when the ball is on the floor, when you have to show it. Point bar. Every night, 48 minutes and 24 freaking seconds.
