Check out Giannis’ all-real story of getting a black eye from saving a woman from a mugger
Recently, the The Milwaukee Bucks fell back down to Earth with a narrow home loss by the Sacramento Kings. It was another great game from Giannis Antetokounmpo after returning from injury after missing the team’s recent game against the Golden State Warriorsbut in the end, Milwaukee ended up suffering its second loss of the season.
Recently, reporters noted Antetokounmpo’s sports black eye, and the Greek oddball came up with an amusing, if not necessarily true, story about how he endured it.
“There was a guy about to grab a lady’s purse … I went and grabbed him and he kind of turned around and elbowed me in the eye, but then I grabbed him, put him on the floor, took the purse, gave it to the lady … I paid for her groceries,” Antetokounmpo said, on the Bucks’ former official Twitter account on X.
Antetokounmpo made the statement in a borderline trollish tone, which means it shouldn’t necessarily be taken at face value. Still, if nothing else, it was a good example of the superstar’s sense of humor.
Tough loss for the Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the surprise teams of the early NBA season, starting 4-1 despite being expected to be a middling team at best in a weak Eastern Conference. On Thursday, the Bucks grabbed the attention of the NBA world by knocking off the Golden State Warriors despite Antetokounmpo being out of the lineup due to injury.
However, the Bucks’ defensive concerns, as well as the lack of depth around Antetokounmpo, surfaced in the team’s loss to the Kings, halting their early momentum.
Still, Antetokounmpo continues to play at an MVP level, and the team got some great performances from unexpected players like Ryan Rollins, especially against the Warriors, where some are recalculating how far this team can go.
The Bucks will next take the floor on Monday night against the Indiana Pacers.
