Chet Holmgren appreciates All-Star Game showing ‘good brand of basketball’
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Chet Holmgren reflected on his first All-Star game during his media availability after the game. Holmgren discussed the competitiveness of the new NBA format in the USA versus the world. Chet played for the USA Stars team, which defeated the USA Stripes 47-21 in the finals.
Holmgren talked about his first All-Star game during his postgame media availability.
“I thought it was good. I thought everybody that was out there kind of wanted that, to play good basketball,” Holmgren said. “It felt like, I guess you could say, a pick-up game, and when there’s that level of talent on the floor, it’s always fun, it’s always good.”
He also talked about the ring he received for his All-Star selection, which was unexpected for Holmgren.
“It was pretty cool. I didn’t know you were going to get an All-Star ring until I got it,” Holmgren said. “So it was pretty cool. It comes in a little box with a little video. It’s pretty sick, but I think I like our ring a little better than last year.”
The Thunder forward took the moment to appreciate the special career milestone of his first All-Star game.
“I would definitely say during the pictures yesterday and then warming up and playing the game today, I definitely try to take a moment and think about what a great opportunity this is,” Holmgren added. “I felt like I’m mostly pretty at this point. I’m just taking it all in.”
Chet Holmgren on his All-Star jump with the Thunder

While the fourth year forward Jaylen Williams made his All-Star case for the Thunder’s Chet Holmgren, most people would agree it was simple. Ahead of his first All-Star appearance on Sunday, Holmgren talked about the work he put in it led to arguably the best season of his career.
“I would say it’s all the work that’s not in the game,” Holmgren said. “It’s preparation before games, shots in the morning, work in the summer; all the things that no one sees – injury rehab. If you didn’t do it, no one would know about it. But at the end of the day, when you go out on the field, it shows.”
Holmgren is averaging career bests in points (17.4), field goal percentage (56%) and rebounds (8.7) per game.
