Chet Holmgren reveals just how cold the Vembani rivalry is

The Oklahoma City Thunder once again they have the best record in the league as they are currently 26-4. Interestingly, three of those losses have come in the last five games, and two have was in the hands of the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have shown this season that they are not afraid of anyone who gets in their way, and Victor Vembanyama lead the pack.
There’s no doubt that Vembanjama are up for those games, and that could be more because of the battle with Chet Holmgren. Over the past two weeks, Vembanjama has been taking shots at Holmgren here and there, and the Thunder center hasn’t been paying attention.
In recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, tried to get Holmgren’s thoughts on a possible rivalry between the two.
“Do you consider yourself and Victor Vembanyama as league rivals?” asked Andrews.
“I don’t think it’s ever been up to the players or the teams to declare a rivalry so you’re asking the wrong person,” Holmgren said.
Andrews then asked Holmgren if he had ever spoken to Vembanyama.
“I don’t think it’s a full sentence,” Holmgren said.
It’s obvious that these two are competitive, and when they play against each other it shows that they try to do their best.
All in all, it seems like the Thunder and Spurs could be the next rivalry in the league. After the Spurs’ last win against the Thunder, Vembanjama said he was not ready to call it that yet, but hopes it will happen one day.
“It seems like it would be weird to say it’s a rivalry because it’s not something that seems natural,” Wembanyama said. “I didn’t say it’s impossible that it can’t be in the future. I hope it’s soon, but we’re definitely getting closer.”
