Chicago agrees to contract with former G League MVP

A few months after the Orlando Magic forced Mac McLung into free agencytheir loss was Chicago Bulls‘ gain. On Friday, Taurus grabbed him by signing him, according to Michael Scott of Hoops Hype and USA Today.

McClung arrives in Chicago as a former NBA G League MVP as well as a three-time NBA slam dunk champion. In February, McLung won his third consecutive slam dunk contest during NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.

During the 2023-2024 season, he was a standout player with the Osceloa Magic of the NBA G League. Overall, he finished the year averaging 25.7 points, 6.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game, leading to MVP honors.

For the Bulls, McLung can certainly provide an offensive spark. He has tremendous athleticism, can score in bunches, and can certainly dunk. He can also guard multiple positions on defense, which fits head coach Billy Donovan’s versatile approach.

The Bulls defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-100 on Thursday in their final preseason game. On October 22, they will play their first game of the regular season at home against the Detroit Pistons.

McLung came to the NBA from Georgetown (2018-2020) and Texas Tech (2020-2021).

Where are you Mac McClung fit into the Bulls?

Initially, McClung will begin his stay in Chicago with the Windy City Bulls of the G League. If he continues to build on his success in the G League, it could do wonders to help him move up the ladder.

More than anything, his offensive prowess has the power to erase the likes of Josh Giddy, Kobe White, Matas Bouzellis, Ayo Dosunmu. McClung could fit right into that mix as the Bulls increasingly like to push the tempo, which can lead to even more tempting dunks from McClung in transition.

At this point, only time will tell.
