Chris Finch’s cryptic injury news on Anthony Edwards’ injury

On Monday night, Minnesota Timberwolves finally snapped their ugly five-game losing streak with a 108-83 home win over the Golden State Warriors. The Timberwolves played this game without Anthony Edwardswho was scratched late due to a foot injury.

After the game, the head coach Chris Finch not really have an encouraging update on Edwards’ injury situation.

“That was news to me, honestly. He had a sore foot that was bothering him,” Finch said, per Chris Hine of the Minnesota Star Tribune on the Bluesky.

Finch also talked about the possibility of Edwards sitting out the Timberwolves’ games on Wednesday and Thursday.

“It wasn’t communicated to me, but then again, I haven’t really spoken to the performance team since the decision was made to sit him tonight,” he said.

Indeed, the Timberwolves will play back-to-back sets twice in the same week, which is not ideal for any team. Minnesota was originally scheduled to play the Warriors on Saturday afternoon, but that game was pushed back to Sunday following the city’s second ICE-related shooting, meaning Monday’s game was the second day the two teams played in a row.

Injury concerns have started to become an issue for Edwards this season, as he recently missed time before coming back from a 55-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs last week. It was one of the multiple injury absences the star has battled so far in the 2025-26 campaign.

However, getting back into the win column in such a resounding fashion Monday night had to feel good for a Timberwolves team that has been on the main bus in recent weeks, dropping enigmatic games to teams like the Chicago Bulls.

Either way, the Timberwolves next take the court on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks on the road.
