Chris Paul drops the mic on Legacy, all while riding in Waymo

Recently, the NBA world was stunned to learn about that legendary point guard Chris Paul would retire from sports in the middle of the 2o25-26 season. The news came after the star was issued by the Toronto Raptorsand ended all chances of the retirement tour he was hoping to get.

Now, Paul reflects on his Hall of Fame career, specifically his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, as long as he rides in Waymo Self-Driving Car, via Jaidea Dier.

“Those were the years for me growing my family and kind of becoming who I am. It happened here in LA, so there’s so much gratitude and love,” Paul told big_business_ on X, formerly Twitter. “When I think about legacy, I always say that if people remember me for what I did on the basketball court, then I didn’t do much of anything.”

Paul really had the best years of his career with the Clippers in the 2010s, though he had a great stint with the New Orleans Hornets before that. Paul rejoined the Clippers before the 2025-26 season, but was shockingly let go from the team a few months ago, reportedly due to friction between him and head coach Ty Lue.

Paul had previously announced that the 2025-26 season would be his last, paving the way for a Kobe Bryant-style retirement tour, but that ended with his abrupt dismissal by the Clippers.

While the end of his career clearly didn’t turn out the way he probably envisioned, it still won’t diminish Paul’s status as one of the greatest point guards of his generation, who has lifted every team he’s joined and come close to winning a championship with the Phoenix Suns in 2021.

He’s probably a guarantee he’ll be in the Hall of Fame the first year he’s eligible.
