Given the timing, the light-hearted exchange seemed to be Paul’s way of processing what had been a difficult day. however, Paul first flagged the shared post, “I just found out I’m being sent home.”

“We didn’t make this move because of underperformance. He had nothing to do with it,” Frank said during a teleconference. “I take full responsibility for our record. We are not making a scapegoat for Chris Paul. We have a lot of problems and we will solve every problem.”

The sudden end echoed after the breakup of the Clippers, including when Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2017and Griffin was unexpected traded to the Detroit Pistons shortly after signing a long-term contract.
