Chris Rodriguez Jr. late addition to injury report

The The Washington Commanders are preparing for the Christmas match against the Dallas Cowboys. However, commanders may be forced into battle without a returning key.

Chris Rodriguez Jr was added to the injury report on Thursday with illness. He is now listed as a question, via the X Team, formerly the Twitter account.

Being added to the injury report on game day is never a good sign. At least Rodriguez is dealing with an illness and not a long-term problem. However, the commanders will closely monitor the escape until the beginning.

In 12 games this season, including seven starts, Rodriguez set career highs in rushing attempts (96), yards (435) and touchdowns (five). When Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending injuryRodriguez was thrust into a much larger role.

He remains behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt on the depth chart, as the rookie leads Washington in all rushing categories. However, the commanders are trying to get Rodriguez even more involved in the offense. The running back had 15 carries in the Commanders’ last game – against the Philadelphia Eagles – which tied his season high. Rodriguez ran for 63 yards and a touchdown.

If fully healthy, Washington would surely want to see if Rodriguez could repeat his success. At 4-11, commanders play for pride and development. At just 26 years old, Rodriguez is trying to prove that he belongs in the offense. But if the quarterback’s ailment doesn’t go away by the time the inactivity rolls around, Rodriguez may not get that opportunity come Christmas.
