Christian Darrisav re-aggravates knee injury on TNF against Chargers

Minnesota Vikings left tackle Christian Darissa re-aggravated his knee injury and he didn’t come back until Thursday night’s game against Los Angeles Chargersthe team announced, as it also downgraded Josh Oliver to out.

Darrisaw came off in the first half after showing clear discomfort after a play that favored his leg. Trainers examined him on the sidelines and, after a brief evaluation, the team ruled him out for the rest of the night. Justin Skule entered the attack from the left side and settled the remaining shots. The move forced Minnesota to rebuild its already thin offensive line against a Chargers pass rush that tested backups.

Darrisaw, a key defender for Minnesota’s offense, has battled intermittent knee problems this season and was only recently approved for play after pre-game testing. His absence left the Vikings without their primary playmaker at a time when run and pass blocking mattered most. Coach Kevin O’Connell offered a measured update after halftime, saying the coaches will give a more complete report once the tests are complete.

This is familiar territory for Darrisaw, who has struggled with attrition issues since entering the league. The Vikings must now weigh short-term fixes against long-term health; an injured left tackle can be difficult to replace and even more difficult to duplicate in defensive schemes. Fantasy and depth watchers will follow the early tests and X-rays; for now, Minnesota’s offensive line prospects look more uncertain than they did at the start.

The Vikings’ medical staff and front office face quick decisions: further shooting, a recovery timeline and whether to rely on Scully and the reserves or explore outside help. Until the team gives a clearer diagnosis, fans and analysts will have only one certainty, that tonight’s difference between a win or a loss has become much more complicated without Christian Deriso on the field.
