Christian Watson was honored to receive Green Bay’s Ed Block Courage Award

The Green Bay Packers revered wide receiver Christian Watson on Wednesday, naming him the team’s Ed Block Courage Award winner in recognition of his perseverance through a season defined by injury recovery and leadership.
The injury occurred in the regular season finale on January 5, 2025 against the Chicago Bears, sidelining Watson for the postseason and the first seven weeks of the following campaign. His recovery lasted nearly nine months before he returned in Week 8. Despite limited early snaps, his explosiveness quickly re-emerged and added a vertical dimension to the offense.
Since returning, the fourth-year pass catcher has provided a steady and timely impact amid a hotly contested NFC North race. Through nine games, Watson recorded 30 receptions for 498 yards and five touchdowns, averaging more than 16 yards per catch. His presence has helped stabilize a passing offense dealing with injuries and tight margins in a division where playoff position remains unsettled with two weeks left in the NFL season.
The recognition extended beyond production. Matt Schneidman of the Athletics shared a video on X (formerly known as Twitter) of Watson addressing the media in the Lambeau Field locker room, emphasizing how meaningful he should have received validation from his teammates after such a challenging year.
“Anytime you get any kind of recognition for the work you’ve put in, it definitely makes you feel a little bit more,” Watson said. “Going through that was tough in itself, and I’m reaping the rewards of being able to go out and play. It means a lot to be recognized for that work.”
