Chuba Hubbard has a hard time admitting that she’s injured herself again

With Chuba Hubbard suffered a calf injurythe Carolina Panthers they turned to Rick Dowdle as their rush leader. Hubbard is still adjusting to the offense after returning in Week 7.

So far he has forced the Panthers into a handgained 473 rushing yards in the two games Hubbard missed. However, the sophomore defender admits that he returned from injury too soon. It’s Hubbard he is still trying to find himself and fully overcome his calf injuryvia team reporter Cassidy Hill.

“Honestly, I think I’m a competitor and when I came back from my calf, maybe I wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be,” Hubbard said. “Obviously, in the league, you’re never going to be 100 percent. I just want to be there for my team, so maybe I rushed back a little bit earlier than I should have, which is my own doing.”

“Maybe I’m just feeling a little bit,” he continued. “I had to — not to go into detail about exactly what was going on with my calf — but I had a few different things going on with him. And it was kind of hard to explain some of the things that I was dealing with.”

In the Panthers’ 30-27 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons, Hubbard caught four carries compared to Dowdle’s 19. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry, making the most of his opportunities. However, Hubbard has yet to regain his pre-injury role.

Maybe Carolina will start giving him more opportunities once the quarterback is further removed from his calf ailment. However, it will be difficult to take the ball out of Dowdle’s hands. Regardless, Hubbard is just looking forward and wants to handle his injury the right way this time around.
