CJ McCollum and Alex Sarr finally give the Wizards a win

They did it! Last night, the Wizards won their second win of the season, their first in the NBA Cup, against Atlanta. There are fourteen matches Alec Sarr stoves he did not win a single match again. So last night they did their best by beating the Hawks from the start, led by CJ McCollum in top form, with 46 points on the clock!

The former Portland player and Corey Kispert were the first to break the rain with an incredible 8/8 three-pointer to start the game. And with the good help of the Coulibaly-Sar tandem, the locals quickly rose to +29 (43-14)!

That made it difficult for the Hawks to see the day again, and despite the efforts of Onyeka Onkongwu and Kristaps Porzingis, Washington maintained control until the end. CJ McCollum stayed hot, and relays by Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington again made the difference and ended the third quarter at +33 (111-78). Washington was thus able to finish without fear to win 132 to 113. Confirmation is expected on Friday in Indiana.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

No 15th straight Wizards loss. It has been exactly one month since Washington last won a game. A fourteen game losing streak therefore ended last night with the added bonus of a Hawks loss. A big relief for a team that showed last night that they are better than their record (2v-15d).

CJ McCollum on top. It was he who set Washington on track with a breathtaking 4/4 triple. He stayed hot until the end, finishing an incredible 10/13 in practice (one 3-pointer away from a career best) and fueling his 46 points. Atlanta just couldn’t resist.

Alec Sarr domine le «French corner». The duel between the top two picks in the 2024 draft Zachary Rizacher and Alex Sarr won the latter. The Wizards’ interior also excelled in efficiency with 27 points on 11/15 shooting and 11 rebounds. In contrast, Zachary Rizacher was one of the few survivors (17 points on 4/9 on 3-pointers). Also note the solid first half by Bilal Coulibaly who also rode the Wizards crazy wave with two dunks.
