Clippers announcer roasts Treo Young’s performance in LA

The The Washington Wizards have shaken things up recently trading for Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Youngsending CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert in return. Unfortunately, Wizards fans will have to wait to see their new floor general, as ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania reported earlier this week that Young will come out at least through the All-Star break due to various injuries.

Still, Young is currently with the team on their way to the Western Conference, appearing in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Wednesday night, which turned out to be a loss.

During the game, the Clippers announcer made a joke about Young’s presence in the arena.

“I guarantee if this trip was in Utah, Trey wouldn’t be on the bench,” he told MrBuckBuck on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, Los Angeles is generally considered one of the NBA’s more fun cities to travel to, and Young actually owns a home in the area, which could have influenced his decision to join the team there on Wednesday.

However, Wednesday’s game was not the first game Young has attended since his move to the Wizards, and he has said all the right things about his new team since joining them last week.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen what the Wizards’ plan will be with Young this season. Washington will only keep its first-round pick this year if it finishes in the top eight, meaning the team has an incentive not to win too many games in the short term.

Young missed significant time earlier this year with an MCL sprain, from which he is apparently still recovering.

Either way, the Wizards next take the court on Friday night against the Sacramento Kings.
