Cole Kmet wants to rewrite Chicago’s playoff legacy

The The Chicago Bears are in the midst of a 41-year Super Bowl droughtand it didn’t quite look like they were going to break their long dry spell this century so far. They’ve reached the postseason just six times since the turn of the century, but now look to strike gold in their seventh playoff appearance since 2000 after posting an 11-6 season in 2025 that was good enough to win the NFC North division crown.

And a player who was with the Bears through the dark days of the early 2020s, a rough end Cole Farmerlooking forward to the opportunity to rewrite the usual playoff story for the Windy City, especially as of late.

“I feel that way about Chicago sports in general. I’ve always felt that way with the Cubs, here in Chicago with the Bears, felt that way recently with the Bulls,” Kmet said, per Chris Emma of 670 The Score.

“I think Chicago is just a city steeped in history, which is great and that’s what makes it such a special place. But that being said, we want to build our own history here. We have an opportunity to do that on Saturday.”

Things have looked dire for the Bears over the last few seasons, which makes this turnaround of theirs nothing short of remarkable. New head coach Ben Johnson worked his magic with Caleb Williams and company, and the city of Chicago hasn’t had a Super Bowl crown like this in quite some time.

The Bears must be very careful, however, as they will face an opponent they are very familiar with in the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers. The two teams split the season series, so despite the seeding difference (two to seven), this will be a very close game.
