Contract expiring early with ‘most attractive trade’
As it is The Chicago Bulls lost to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, 129-118, it was another middling start for the team, so the approaching Feb. 5 trade deadline was one to keep an eye on. Doc rumors will surround Taurus before the trade deadline, an NBA analyst takes a look at the player with arguably the biggest trade market.
In the latest column from ESPN’s Bobby Marks, he breaks down each NBA team and how they are heading into next week’s trade deadline. He would talk about the seven contracts that Chicago is expiring, and how Aio Dosunmu has a contract with “the most attractive trade.”
“ESPN asked the team’s executives which of the seven players had the most appeal. The unanimous answer was Dosunmu,” Marks wrote.
“Dosunmu is making an attractive salary of $6.5 million and is averaging career highs in points (14.3), field goal percentage (51.3) and 3-point percentage (44.6). The team that trades for him will inherit his Bird rights, allowing him to exceed the salary cap in the new contract. Dosunmu can extend his contract from $69 million to $89 million. June 30,” Marks continued.
This would support other reports, such as insider Marc Stein that Dosunmu is even a star Coby Whiteare “most frequently mentioned as potential departures.”

With rumors surrounding the Bulls likely to continue until the trade deadline, it seems obvious that Dosunmu is one of the players heavily rumored to be dealt to a new team. In fact, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel would mention on Clutch Scoops on January 15th that the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets are the three teams that league scouts are mentioning as potential destinations.
Siegel would also mention that there is a “market” for White as well, although Chicago’s asking price appears to be an unprotected first-round pick.
Either way, it remains to be seen who will be traded away from the Bulls when the trade deadline rolls around, and whether Dosunmu or White is one of them.
