Cooper Flagg gave up crucial injury information

DALLAS— Cooper Flagg is consistently listed on Dallas Mavericks‘ injury report with a right thumb splint for the past few weeks, but has been available for most games. In fact, Flagg has appeared in 24 of Dallas’ 25 contests this season. So how’s Flagg’s thumb injury recovery going? The fact that it’s still listed on the injury report is notable, but apparently not serious enough to keep Flagg out of games.

“I sure feel healthy, I’m ready,” Flagg he told reporters Tuesday. “With the amount of games we play, there’s always going to be some nagging things. Obviously I’ve had problems with my thumb, but I’m ready. There’s always going to be something you have to deal with.”

“It’s just part of the mental and physical effort and just playing through some of those things.”

Cooper Flagg’s injury concern was not an issue

Flagg plays at a high level in his rookie season. The 18-year-old is averaging 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per outing. He is also shooting 47.5 percent from the field.

Flagg has had some ups and downs — something to be expected for an 18-year-old rookie. However, the ceiling remains high for the No. 1 overall pick in 2025.

As for his thumb injury, the issue is clearly not something Dallas is overly concerned with. Flagg continued to play and the Mavs are currently in a stretch where their next game isn’t scheduled until Friday, giving Flagg plenty of time to rest and recover.

Regardless, updates on his status will continue to be provided as they become available.
