Cooper Flagg receives injury notice for upcoming Jazz clash

It was a difficult and tiring season for Dallas Mavericksbut they are looking to put together a mini-game winning streak when they face the Utah Jazz on Saturday. The The Mavericks have a long injury reportand rookie star Cooper Flagg‘s playing status is in doubt due to an ankle problem.
It’s Cooper Flagg officially listed as suspicious on the Mavericks’ injury report for their game against the Jazz. Flagg initially suffered an ankle injury during the team’s loss to the Denver Nuggets last Tuesday. He did not play during their win against the Jazz last Thursday.
Based on the injury report, Flagg is unlikely to play Saturday against the Jazz. The Mavericks are currently 16-26 and in 12th place in the Western Conference standings. They are just two games back of the 10th seed Memphis Grizzlies and a playoff spot.
But the Mavericks actually owe it to themselves to end up in the lottery this season and try to land another impact rookie like Flagg. After this season, the Mavericks don’t have their first-round pick until 2031.
As for Flagg, he is certainly one of the favorites for the NBA Rookie of the Year award. He appeared in 40 games with just over 34 minutes per game. He averaged 18.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 28.7 percent from the 3-point line and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.
Flagg is second in rookie scoring behind Conn Knuepel of the Charlotte Hornets.
