Cooper Flagg released the unfortunate injury news on his birthday



Dallas Mavericks newcomer Cooper Flagg turned 19 on Sunday. Flagg has enjoyed a historic start to his careerbut received an unfortunate injury notice on his birthday. According to NBA injury report, Flagg is questionable play on Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans with a back contusion.

As mentioned, Flagg is playing well this season. He’s looked especially comfortable in recent weeks as the rookie is clearly finding his groove in the NBA. The Mavs are obviously hoping his injury isn’t too serious.

Overall, the 2025 NBA Draft No. 1 pick is averaging 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per outing. He also shoots 47.8 percent from the field.

Landing on the injury report certainly wasn’t how Flagg planned to spend his birthday on Sunday. More information on Cooper Flagg’s injury status will be released before tip-off Monday night.

Mavericks vs. Pelicans injury report

The Mavs have a long injury report for Monday night, as a total of eight players are on the injury report.

In addition to Cooper Flagg, the following players are listed as questionable: Max Christie (illness), Klay Thompson (sore left knee), Moussa Cisse (two-way G League) and Myles Kelly (two-way G League). Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery), Derek Lively II (right foot surgery) and Dante Exum (right knee surgery) remain out.

Although the injuries are far from ideal, the Mavs should still have a chance to beat the 7-22 Pelicans. Tip-off is scheduled for 20:00 EST in New Orleans.
