Cooper Flagg shut out the Grizzlies once again

The Dallas Mavericks will face the Memphis Grizzlies, and they they won’t have their rookie star on the floor for the sixth consecutive game, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

“The Mavericks say Cooper Flagg will miss his sixth straight game tonight with a sprained left midfoot. Memphis is in Dallas for the second night in a row. It will be Flagg’s 10th game he has missed this season,” Stein said wrote on Ksformerly Twitter.

It’s uncertain when Flagg will return to action, and the Mavericks may want to be cautious with his injury. During the All-Star break, Flagg was seen wearing a bootwhich made many people raise their eyebrows. Stein reported at the time that the Mavericks were lucky his injury was just a sprained midfoot.

“Cooper Flagg was indeed spotted with a boot on his left foot Saturday in Duke’s home game against Clemson, but league sources tell Stein Line that Dallas feels fortunate that last week’s MRI results on Flagg revealed only a left midfoot sprain,” Stein wrote. “It is still not known exactly how long the 19-year-old will be out, but the Mavericks are relieved the injury was not more serious.”

Flagg started to catch fire before the injury and it was obvious that he had figured things out. The Mavericks made several moves at the trade deadline that signaled they were ready to go along with Flagg as the team’s future, and he seemed ready for the moment.

The Mavericks don’t seem overly concerned about Flagg’s injury, and there should be a chance he returns at some point this season. From now on, players like Naji Marshall, Klay Thompson, Brandon Williams and others will have to step up.
