Cooper Flagg was seen wearing the boots while attending the Duke game

Number 4 The Duke Blue Devils take over No. 20 Clemson Tigers on Saturday in an important ACC matchup. With the NBA in the middle of the All-Star break, Dallas Mavericks rookie star Cooper Flagg decided to attend the game and watch his former college team.
However, the 19-year-old phenom was seen wearing walking boots on the left leg. Flagg has a midfoot sprain, according to Dallas basketball reporter Grant Afsett. Cooper Flagg doesn’t seem to be hurting as he walks over and taps him with a person upon arrival at the stadium in a clip shares sports anchor Chase Justice from VIFF News 4.
“Cooper Flagg is currently wearing a cleat as he recovers from a sprained left midfoot. The Dallas Mavericks next play on February 20th against the Minnesota Timberwolves.”

With the Mavericks taking on the Timberwolves on Feb. 20, Flagg has less than a week to be ready for action. Former #1 pick suffered an injury on Feb. 7 during Dallas’ 138-125 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. If Cooper Flagg returns for the Feb. 20 game against Minnesota, then it likely means he has a Grade 1 midfoot sprain, which is not considered a serious injury.
Despite playing small forward and power forward during his time at Duke, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has Flagg as his point guard. It’s a decision that threw Cooper Flagg into the deep end and could accelerate his development in the NBA.
In 49 games played so far this season, Flagg is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 48.2% from the floor and 30.2% from the field. The Mavericks will likely monitor Cooper Flagg’s left leg in the coming days before announcing his status for the Timberwolves game.
