Could Anthony Richardson be an option with Daniel Jones injured?

The Indianapolis Colts they are 8-4 heading into a big Week 14 showdown against the 8-4 Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams are tied for first place in the AFC South, with the Houston Texans right behind at 7-5. Colts quarterback Daniel Jones toughed it out and played through a fibula injury in Week 13 against the Texans.

However, the Colts have seen star cornerback Sos Gardner suffer an injury, but the latest report is that Gardner will not go on IR, at least not now.

As for Jones, his injury should be monitored. Ahead of Week 14, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano revealed a troubling update on Jones.

“We mentioned Jones earlier, and he’s trying to play through a fibula injury,” Fowler wrote to ESPN. “But he’s obviously not 100 percent, and the coaches I’ve talked to who have followed the Colts closely say his mobility is compromised.”

“I talked to some people in Houston after the Texans-Colts game on Sunday and they said they felt like Jones really couldn’t move at all,” Graziano added. “He was able to hit a few shots downfield when the pocket held up, but the movement part of his game is missing, which makes the offense seem more limited.”

Now, does that mean Anthony Richardson could take over when will he come back from his eye injury? Well, here’s what Shane Steichen had to say, via James Boyd of The Athletic.

‘Colts HC Shane Steichen says he’s “hopeful” KB Anthony Richardson (orbital fracture/IR) will return this season, but no timeline yet.’

Richardson suffered a fractured orbit and was placed on IR, but reports previously stated that he could be back this season.

Still, according to Steichen, there’s no timeline, which puts a huge question mark at the KB position, with Jones also dealing with an injury concern.

Former Notre Dame and Duke QB Riley Leonard is the second QB on the roster, so for now he would be the one to start. In Week 13, Jones was 14-of-27 for 201 yards with a pair of touchdowns in a 20-16 loss to the Texans, but he was clearly in pain and it could worsen as time goes on.
