Cowboys exploring trade for Max Crosby according to insider
Jerry Jones knows that he messed with Micah Parsons. He won’t fully admit it, but he does so by his actions. The Dallas Cowboys allegedly contacted with Las Vegas Raiders regarding a potential trade for a star edge Mack Crosby.
The Cowboys cautiously held out his hand on Tuesday, according to NFL insider Trey Wing. They didn’t seem to send a quote, but walked around to see what the price would be.
Crosby just signed a record offseason extension that briefly made him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Despite the slight statistical regression, the Raiders gave him a three-year, $106.5 million extension in the offseason.
Wingo pointed out that Crosby’s extension is ideal to keep him locked in with the Raiders, but Las Vegas is one of the few teams in a worse position than the Cowboys. The 28-year-old has never directly asked for a replacement, but there have been reports of his previous frustration with the team’s underachievement.
Crosby also suffered a minor knee injury in Week 7, but that was reportedly just a precaution. The 2025 Raiders season went from bad to worse with a 31-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that was barely competitive for a second.
The Cowboys are still reeling from the Mikay Parsons trade

Dallas, of course, lost Parsons in the offseason when he traded him to the Green Bay Packers the following months of turmoil. They received defensive tackle Kenny Clark, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick.
Since the Parsons trade, the Cowboys defense is arguably the worst in the league. Keeping Parsons wouldn’t solve all of their problems, but losing him saw Dallas drop from one of the best pass rush units in the league to a mediocre one at best. They have 15 sacks in seven games, ranking near the middle of the pack.
Cowboys 2025 is a complete tale of two sides. While their offense ranks near the top of the league, their defense is in the bottom five in nearly every category. The unfortunate balance is reflected in Dallas’ record, which is 3-3-1 before Week 8.
The Cowboys are in no position to blow it, but Jones is clearly looking for the necessary changes. They have historically been active at the trade deadline, most recently acquiring 2024 wide receiver Jonathan Mingo.
