Cyclones lose All-Big 12 running back to carry



The Iowa State Cyclones face another big roster change as All-Big 12 running back Carson Hansen has officially decided to enter the transfer window, marking a significant loss for the program is already navigating a turbulent offseason.

The news was first published by CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz, who highlighted Hansen’s production and impact over the past two seasons.

Hansen spent three seasons in Ames and emerged as Iowa State Footballprimary offensive weapon off the field. He earned it All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2025 after rushing for 952 yards and six touchdowns, following a breakout sophomore season in which he totaled 752 yards and 13 scores.

Over 38 career games, Hansen has amassed 1,771 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground, while also contributing as a receiver with 337 yards and two extra scores. His departure leaves Iowa State thin at running back, making it more likely that they will The Cyclones will turn back to the transfer portal as they prepare for the 2026 season.
