Dallas gets a key injury notice for Daniel Gafford after he left the Heat early

On Wednesday evening, Dallas Mavericks picked up big win for the hosts via the Miami Heat to extend their winning streak to three consecutive games. Unfortunately, the Mavericks received some tough injury information when the big man was out Daniel Gafford he left the game with an ankle injury and was unable to return.

Now the team has announced latest update ahead of Friday’s road showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gafford is officially listed as questionable with a right ankle injury, according to Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter. Meanwhile, forward PJ Washington is also questionable with a sprained right ankle.

Overall, it’s been a rough season for the Mavericks so far, but things may be starting to turn around now that Anthony Davis is back in the lineup. As mentioned earlier, the Mavericks have now won three straight games, including a particularly impressive win on the road against the Denver Nuggets, and the team is now 8-15 in the young 2025-26 season.

Cooper Flagg is starting to look more and more like the generational prospect Mavericks fans were hoping they would draft No. 1 overall, and the team has also seen some nice play from unsung players like undrafted rookie Ryan Hembhardt.

If Kyrie Irving is able to return at some point in the near future, it’s not off the table for Dallas to make the playoffs.

The Mavericks will next take the floor on Friday against the Thunder at 9:30pm ET.
