Damian Lillard shows vintage form with 3-point win



Although Damian Lillard he is not playing this season due to an achilles tear Portland Trail Blazers the point guard was still able to compete in this year’s three-point contest during NBA All-Star Weekend. He proved he’s still got it after putting in a brilliant display on Saturday.

35-year-old security guard managed to win three-point contest outright, according to ESPN. He scored 29 in the championship round beating Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knuepel.

Lillard was on fire throughout the three-point contest. The 13-year veteran (he would have been 14 had he played this season) scored 27 points in the first round, 30 in the second round and 29 in the championship round. Towards the end of the competition, he was no match for either Booker or Knuepel.

This is Damian Lillard’s third three-pointer of his career. He was one of the league’s best shooters, earning the nickname “Logo Lillard” for his ability to consistently hit three-pointers near midcourt. Winning the three-point battle also hints that the nine-time All-Star could be in great shape when he eventually returns from injury.
