D’Angelo Russell has Nets fans buzzing over a cryptic 2-word post

On Friday night, Brooklyn Nets continued their journey in the Western Conference with a tough loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Cripto.com Arena. Brooklyn fought bravely in this match despite having several key injuries; however, the team ultimately fell when a D’Angelo Russell hit a 3-pointer rim in the final seconds.

Russell, of course, is a two-time member of both the Lakers and Nets, returning to Los Angeles for the first time since the team traded him to Brooklyn last month.

After missing the game winner, Russell went to X with cryptic message which had Nets fans buzzing.

“Muffled emotions,” Russell wrote in his post.

Some fans backed the striker after he narrowly missed out on what would have been an epic moment of revenge.

“How are you Dlo, LA misses you,” one fan wrote.

Others were optimistic that in Brooklyn, Russell could rediscover the All-Star version of himself.

“At home where you were an NBA All-Star game point guard in 2019 when you had a catch-and-shoot wing shooter to compliment your game. That didn’t exist in LA,” wrote one user.

How will this Russell experiment go?

All in all, Russell has been up and down since making the Nets headlines for the second time in his career. Russell was acquired by Brooklyn in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton, who the Lakers hope will help solidify their sometimes shaky wing rotation.

Russell, meanwhile, doesn’t quite fit the timeline of a Nets team that appears to have fully embraced a rebuild, with potentially more trades on the horizon before next month’s deadline.

However, the point guard could still be a solid veteran presence for a team filled with young players like Cam Thomas who in many ways fit the Russell archetype.

Still, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Nets want to move Russell to a contending team that could use the scoring he’s proven to be able to provide.

Either way, the Nets next take the court on Sunday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
