Daniel Gafford reacts to the ‘hard blow’ of Anthony Davis’ injury

Anthony Davis suffered a hand injury which may require surgery. Regardless, Dallas Mavericks The star is expected to be out for six weeks to several months, depending on whether or not he needs surgery. On Saturday, teammates Daniel Gafford shared his reaction to the bad news.
Gafford, who is 27, admits to the Mavericks suffered a heavy blowaccording to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. He follows that statement by arguing that he and his teammates need to step up and fill the void for the foreseeable future.
“It’s a tough blow for us,” Gafford said of Davis. “It’s just something that came out of nowhere, something unexpected, and like we always say, the ‘Next Man Up’ mentality. We just have to come in and pick up where he left off.”
Heading into Saturday’s contest against the Chicago Bulls, the Mavericks are 14-24, which ranks them 12th in the Western Conference. It’s been a struggle so far this season, even when Anthony Davis has been healthy. So we’ll see how the club fares with one of its stars out for a few weeks.
The 10-time All-Star played in 20 games for the Mavericks this campaign. In those contests, Davis is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 27.0% from the three-point line.
