Daniss Jenkins rejects classic contract with Pistons
The surprise element of clip rotation, Daniss Jenkins yet he is under pressure from his ” two-way contract ». Like other players, the back of Detroit is approaching the maximum number of usable games for a player with this type of contract in the NBA every night, and in this case he has three games left. Then he won’t be able to play in the big leagues anymore…
To avoid this, the Pistons offered him a two-year minimum contract, but Dennis Jenkins refused! This contract would cover the end of the current and next season, but the person in question was betting on himself.
Provided they part ways with the player, the Pistons have the option to convert the “two-way contract” to a classic contract through the end of the season, which would allow him to play the remaining games, as well as the playoffs. Dennis Jenkins would then become a “protected free agent” at the end of the season.
According to Mark SteinDetroit has its own two-year, $5.1 million exception, which could be used to offer a higher salary to Daniss Jenkins. However, it would also mean that this “exception” would not be available for next season.
Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to play with them mainly in their affiliate development league franchise, but also for up to 50 games in the NBA.
