David Adelman gives positive update on Peyton Watson’s injury

The Denver Nuggets received encouraging news about the future Peyton Watson injury status after a 128-125 win over the Houston Rockets. Watson left the game just five minutes into the first quarter with what was classified as a ‘lower body’ injury.
Despite Watson missing the rest of the game, the Nuggets head coach David Adelman he doesn’t expect to come out for a long period of time.
“It was bone on bone,” Adelman said in his postgame presser. “He might be all right tomorrow. But he was sore. It was one of those stabs he just couldn’t get warm again. . . . Nothing long-term, from what I understand. Just probably a bone bruise.”
Watson’s injury could not have come at a worse time for Denver, as he has improved greatly during the absences of Aaron Gordon and Christian Brown.
After being inserted into the starting lineup, Watson posted the best results of his career. Watson averaged 10.5 points per game in 25 appearances while shooting 50.3% from the field and 39.1% from 3-point range. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists while providing a significant boost on defense.
The Nuggets will have a few days off before facing the Orlando Magic at home on Thursday. That should give Watson plenty of time to rest and nurse his minor injury.
If Watson is unavailable, the Nuggets could give increased minutes to Spencer Joneswho has proven to be an unexpected gem for the team this season. Tim Hardaway Jr. could also see increased minutes, as he was the one who stepped up in Watson’s absence against Houston.
