Deandre Ayton made an unacceptable admission to the Hawks that will enrage fans

On Saturday night, The Los Angeles Lakers have collapsed back to earth with loss of way from explosion in by the hands of the Atlanta Hawks to end their short winning streak. Making things especially uncomfortable for the Lakers was the fact that the Hawks were without their top four leading scorers in this game due to injury, and still had no problem making it easy for Los Angeles.

After the game, the Lakers big man Deandre Ayton became 100% honest on what he felt went wrong for the losing team.

“Really, it’s probably going to leave those guys underrated, not take care of those guys,” Ayton said, per Gautham Warrier of Fadeaway World. “Forgetting about them that this is the NBA and these are NBA players … I feel like we were behind the ball a little bit, and they killed us in transition, and they played great defense. And we weren’t ready for that, and JJ (Redick) basically turned us on it. Yeah, we’re ready for the next game.”

Ayton also talked about how things like this can happen in the NBA from time to time.

“That makes it really a tough pill to swallow. We know what we’re up against, and watching how they played, they played phenomenal, but we’re not even close to competing in a sense. It looks bad on paper and it looks bad on film,” Ayton said.

A tough loss for the Lakers

In addition to being without five of their rotation players, the Hawks have played on the other side of back-to-back without the Lakers answering since Wednesday night.

You wouldn’t know it from the team’s energy level, though, as Los Angeles let the layup lines go to the rim during the first half and were well within reach by the time the Hawks caught fire from behind the arc.

Either way, the Lakers will look to put this loss behind them when they resume their East Coast trip on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
