De’Andre Hunter ready to pair up with Keegan Murray
« Versatility on both ends of the floor, a guy who plays hard and will do what the team needs. » This famous refrain takes over De’Andre Hunterwho readily admits: “ I feel like that’s a little bit what everyone is saying, but match after match I’ll do my best. »
That’s what the newcomer intends to bring to the Kings, traded for Dennis Schroeder and Keon Ellis who took over for the Cavs. ” Oh, it was great. I enjoyed it there. I think it was a little short, but I really liked it. It’s a business, you have to know how to roll with the punches », De’Andre Hunter reacts to his short stay in Ohio.
The winger was traded there by the Hawks in February 2025. His arrival was enough to fuel the lofty ambitions of the Cavs, No. 1 in the East at the time. But a year later, after a very complicated start to the exercise on an individual and collective level, he was moved again.
He is still averaging 14 points this season, but with much worse percentages than in the past: 42.3% including 30.8% from long range. Will this change of scenery allow him to raise the curves?
« It’s true that I haven’t been shooting at my true level lately. So, coming to a place where it’s recognized that you can train harder and better in the gym, that certainly helps. But I do the necessary work. I know the repetition will pay off in the end “, he assures.

A return to skill would be welcome, especially for the Kings, who are just 20th in the league in 3-point shooting (34.9%). His first appearance, tonight against the Grizzliesdoesn’t quite fit into this perspective. In 26 minutes as a starter, he contributed 9 points on only 3/11 shots.
« You have to accept that there are ups and downs. He only had one training session. You try to understand systems and investments, and you do it on stage, in front of everyone. But there are many positives in what De’Andre brings », Poster by Doug Christie.
The Kings coach cites his ability to stretch the game, his 3-point skill and the fact that he can defend in almost any position. ” This is a big bonus for us », formulates the trainer, who can’t wait to see his friends again Keegan Murrayagain on the margins several weeks due to an ankle injury.
The coach plans to develop two men with similar physical profiles together. One at the 3, the other at the 4. De’Andre Hunter doesn’t see much of a difference between the two positions.
« I am very comfortable in both positions. I’ve been doing it for four or five years, so it’s not really hard to adapt. And then playing with a guy like Keegan, who’s another versatile player who can defend, shoot and score… I think it’s going to be great », Projects native to Philadelphia.
« He’s another guy who has size, another player who can defend in positions one through four. When you’re a player who can do it yourself, it’s always nice to have another guy on the court who can take over when you get a little tired. ” says De’Andre Hunter, who will have to wait before seeing this association in action.
