De’Andre Hunter’s season ends early due to eye surgery

As it is The Sacramento Kings have lost their last 15 gamesthe team now has more bad news regarding the forward’s eye injury De’Andre Hunter. With Hunter missed time with the Kings due to an eye injury, latest reports suggest he will miss significant time.
According to NBA insiders Chris Haynes and Marc Stein, Hunter “will undergo eye surgery at the end of the season,” ruled him out for Sacramento, having played just two games with the team after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers at the deadline.
“PLOOM: Sacramento Kings forward De’Andre Hunter will undergo season-ending eye surgery, league sources (Mark Stein) and I say,” Haynes wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
As for what exactly it deals with, it is diagnosed as “iritis”, after being hit in the left eye in last February 6th loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bees reported that he will be re-evaluated in 10 days, with the final decision being to undergo season-ending surgery.
“Sacramento Kings forward De’Andre Hunter has been diagnosed with iritis after taking a shot to his left eye in Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He will be re-evaluated in about 10 days,” Anderson wrote on X on Feb. 8.
This is a profound change of pace from how Hunter said his progress was going well, almost speaking as if a return might have been inevitable.
“It’s not quite there yet, but it’s definitely a lot better than it was,” Hunter said, according to Sports Illustrated on Thursday. “I’m able to play and train and stuff, so it’s progressing really well.”
Either way, it looks like Hunter will be fully healthy for next season and will contribute to the Kings.
