DeAndre Jordan makes an impact in the locker room with Derrick Quinn

Just a few weeks ago, DeAndre JordanHis career was in purgatory as he had yet to sign with a team. Fortunately, the The New Orleans Pelicans jumped at the chance to add more veteran presence to their young roster.

Although Jordan did not see much playing time, he was a welcome addition to the locker room. In particular, he helped Derrick Quinn get through his rookie season with the Pelicans.

The Pelicans got their first win of the season on Tuesday after defeating the Charlotte Hornets, 116-112. Quinn had his best performance yet with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in 18 minutes off the bench.

While being interviewed in the locker room after the game, Jordan urged him to stand up and be proud of its versatile display. The 20-year-old rookie obliged with a smile.

“Come on, get up, dog. You were 12, eight and seven tonight. Don’t sit. You have to stand on that s*** while you’re doing the interview. Here you go! That’s right!” Jordan said in a video released by Pelicans reporter Dylan Sanders.

The 37-year-old Jordan, who earned a DNP against the Hornets, is widely known in the NBA as a great teammate with his positive aura and laid-back personality. Wherever he goes, he becomes a beloved member of the team and community.

His continued presence will continue to be a significant factor for the Pelicans moving forward.

Quinn stepped up in the absence of Sion Williamson, who will be out for at least a week with a hamstring injury. The 13th overall pick out of Maryland should only get better as the season goes on, especially with Jordan cheering him on.

The Pelicans will look to make it back-to-back when they take on the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Clearly, Jordan is not taking his role sitting down.
