Defeat in the form of promise for the Magic
If the series of The magic ended in Houston and that the match scenario may leave room for regret, the mood was still quite positive in the dressing room. Why then? Because without Paolo Bancher, Jamal Mosley’s men still played a solid game against a big team.
Certainly, there were 9 missed free throws or 19 offensive rebounds for the Rockets, and these numbers are difficult in such a tight matchup and long dominated by the Floridians, but the positive remains.
“There was a fight there. I told the players: play this way, resist the runs, stay united, stay focused, keep applying the instructions at the end of the match, that’s what we have to do.”, he looks forward to it Coach Magic.
“The rest of the season will be good” with a performance like this
For most of the game, the Magic’s defense was exemplary. The rotations were good, the efforts were consistent and the Rockets never had an open shot or almost. Every goal was (well) contested. Kevin Durant can only emphasize this.
“Magic did not play at the expected level compared to last season, but in the last matches they found their basketball. We knew what to expect, they struck first. In the first quarter, they hit hard.”notes the Houston winger.
Since the start of the season, the Rockets have averaged 125 points. Against a team without their best player, they remained at 117 units in 53 minutes. Such performance promises and confirms it the right direction is taken for several meetings.
“We have a tight workforce. A lot of players can do a lot of things. We trust everyone. If a player isn’t there, we have someone who will raise his level and really contribute.”comments by Desmond Bane. “Our competitive spirit, our fight, our desire to win: if we have all of that, the rest of the season will be good. This has to become our standard and give us a chance to be competitive night after night.”
