DeMar DeRozan passed Paul Pierce for 20th place on the all-time scoring list
DeMar DeRozan achieved a career milestone that included Paul Pierce during the Sacrament Kings vs. Houston Rockets match on Wednesday evening.
DeRozan is in his 17th NBA season, his second with the Kings. He continues to stand out as one of the most experienced scorers in the league, putting up solid nights on the offensive side of the ball.
Entering Sacramento’s game with Houston, DeRozan had scored 26,391 regular-season points in his career. This placed him 22nd on the all-time scoring list, behind John Havlicek’s 26,395 points and Pierce’s 26,397 points.
DeRozan needed six points to tie Pierce and seven points to surpass 20th. He got the job done. The veteran scorer had seven points in the first half, passing both Havlicek and Pierce.
As DeMar DeRozan, the Kings played against the Rockets

It was an incredible achievement for DeMar DeRozan, surpassing NBA legends Paul Pierce and John Havlicek. However, he couldn’t make up for it with a win as the Kings suffered a 129-97 loss to the Rockets.
The game ended at halftime. Sacramento couldn’t set the tone defensively, giving up 77 points over the first 24 minutes of the game. The Kings never recovered from that bad start, unable to keep up with Houston’s offense.
Four players scored in double figures for Sacramento in the loss, including DeRozan. He finished with 15 points, seven assists, one rebound and one steal. The team was led by Russell Westbrook with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. It’s Nick Clifford’s turn with 15 points and four steals, while Maxime Reynaud had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sacramento fell to a 13-47 record on the season, sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. They are behind the New Orleans Pelicans and the Utah Jazz.
The Kings will look to bounce back in their next game, staying on the road in Texas. They face the Dallas Mavericks and tip-off will take place on February 26th at 8:30pm ET.
