DeMarcus Cousins admits he hates him, says New York won’t win the Finals

The The New York Knicks were sliding of late, recently fell from second place in the Eastern Conference with a blowout road loss to the the hands of the Detroit Pistons. That loss was preceded by home losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers, and some fans are wondering if the Knicks’ hot streak for most of December was more of a fluke than a sign of things to come.
One person who doesn’t align with the Knicks’ title aspirations is the former NBA big man DeMarcus Cousinswho recently participated in the FanDuel show “Run It Back” in convey his concerns.
“I’m an official Knicks hater. … I don’t think this group can win a championship. … I think they need another guy to take the pressure off (Jalen) Brunson. … I think they’re just one stretch away,” Cousins said, per Run It Back on X, formerly Twitter.
Cousins isn’t the first skeptic to point out that the Knicks don’t have a true perimeter player outside of Brunson. While Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby are solid two-way players who can knock down shots and get the ball down the floor, New York lacks a true isolation scoring threat on the perimeter outside of Brunson, which has become a problem for them in past postseasons.
Still, the good news for the Knicks is that the Eastern Conference is wide open this year. The Boston Celtics have been playing lately, but they likely won’t be without Jayson Tatum this season, and the top-seeded Detroit Pistons may not have enough experience to make the NBA Finals.
Either way, the Knicks will take the floor next on Wednesday night at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
