Denver’s starter leaves the Clippers game early with a hand injury



The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers renewed their rivalry on Wednesday when they faced off at the Intuit Dome. The Nuggets were on a five-game winning streakwhile the Clippers were on a five-game losing streak.

This is the first meeting between the two teams since the Nuggets defeated the Clippers in seven games in the first round of last season’s playoffs.

Denver, however, had an early handicap after Cam Johnson he suffered a hand injury with four minutes left in the first quarter. He sat through the entire second frame and was marked as questionable for returnaccording to the team.

Johnson had two points and three rebounds before leaving the contest.

The Brooklyn Nets traded the 29-year-old forward and future first-round pick to the Nuggets in the offseason for Michael Porter Jr. He was seen as an addition to the Mile High City with his two-way ability.

Johnson, however, saw his production drop to 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his first year with the Nuggets. He had fewer touches, and Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon were the team’s main options.

Denver did quite well with the setup, accumulating an 8-2 record before facing the Clippers.

Johnson has plenty of time to settle into his role The Nuggets look set to have another deep run in the playoffs. The severity of Johnson’s hand injury remains unclear, as of this writing.

The Nuggets are currently ahead of the Clippers in the third quarter.
