Desmond Bain gives an unannounced contributor his flowers after a Wizards win

The Orlando Magic suffered a host of injury problems throughout the season, with Franz Wagner misses so much time with an ankle injury and Jalen Suggs coming in and out of the lineup with nagging injuries. This required the emergence of several unheralded players, i Desmond Bane praised the player for being ready to contribute during the Magic’s 126-109 win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, it was Anthony Black’s turn to miss time as he is currently dealing with a quad contusion. This then opened up some extra backcourt minutes for recent acquisition Jevon Carter, who made the most of his 30 minutes on the night. He may not have had the best shooting night, going 3-9 from the field (3-7 from deep), but the energy and intensity he brought to Orlando helped secure the victory.

After the game, Bain gave Carter his flowersapplauding him for setting the tone for the Magic that night.

“He’s a harder worker and he cares about winning. When you work hard and the only thing on your mind is winning, it’s hard not to respect those guys. I think he came in and gave us exactly what we needed,” Bane said via the Magic’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The Magic brought in Tyus Jones before the start of the 2025-26 season to provide leadership and play for the team. Jones, however, addressed Orlando looking washed out. Orlando then decided to drop him, cutting him to reduce the luxury tax which then cleared the way for Carter’s signing.

Carter may not do anything that jumps out at the sidelines, but he always gives his best every minute he spends on the court. It can also be ignited from deep. And he was just what the Magic need.
