Fortunately for Vembanjam and Spurs, he was not seriously injured during that run, as he got up straight away. Although Bane is much smaller than Wembanyama, anyone would fold after elbowing and shouldering the midsection, especially from someone like Bane, who is built like a tank.
When the Magic acquired Bain from the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-team trade that also included the Phoenix Suns, the expectation was that he would provide toughness and grit to a young Orlando squad. His performance against Wembanyama illustrated that, as Bane proved once again that he is ready to face anyone on the field.
Vembanyama and the Spurs also had the last laugh against Bayne and the Magic, as San Antonio cruised to a 112-103 victory at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. With that win, the Spurs ended the Magic’s regular season streak.
Vembanyama led the Spurs with 25 points (including a crazy dunk) on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor, while Bane also had 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting.
