Desmond Bain picked up a technical foul for hitting OG Anunoby with the ball

on Sunday, Orlando Magic crashed back to Earth with the loss of the road against the New York Knicks it wasn’t as close as the 106-100 final score suggested. The Magic had Paolo Bancher in the lineup for this game, but lost Franz Wagner due to an injury at one point in the first half.
In the second half, a controversial moment happened when Knicks forward OG Anunoby blocked a layup attempt and was pulled by a Magic guard Desmond Banewho inexplicably launched the ball away from Anunoby, who was on the ground out of bounds, instead of igniting a fast break for his team.
Bain was assessed a technical foul for the incident, according to Ian Begley of SNI on X, formerly Twitter.
This isn’t the first time Bayne has shown some legitimate anger issues this season, as in the previous game against the Atlanta Hawks he kicked the ball away from center Onyeka Okongwu and was then ejected from the contest.
While he could have stayed in this game en route to a loss, the Magic will want to work with Bain to keep his emotions in check, especially if the team makes a later playoff appearance.
Meanwhile, the Magic will be hoping for good news on the Wagner front, as he suffered the injury in an awkward fall earlier in the game. The Magic only recently returned Buncher from his own injury, and the team is hoping that the 2025-26 season won’t be another one heavily impacted by their stars’ ailments.
Either way, the Magic will next take the floor on Tuesday night at home against the Miami Heat. That game will be part of the ongoing NBA Cup Knockout Round, with the winner advancing to Las Vegas.
