Despite Stephen Curry, Warriors Lose ‘All Close Games’

Les Warriors by Stephen CurryLike two days ago facing Minnesotaduel between Blazers and the Warriors was punctuated by a recital by Stephen Curry in the fourth quarter. Leader scored 14 of his 48 points in the final twelve minutes, sparking Golden State again…not escaping the same cruel scenario. In cash time, the two-time MVP fumbled again on the final possessions and Portland won (136-131).

“When you take 24 threes and Steph takes 12, you have to win the game”, whispers Steve Kerr. “However, we were unable to stop them from scoring 20.

And that’s the anomaly of the evening. Still, the second-worst 3-point team in the league this season (33.5%), Portland suddenly caught fire against the Warriors: 20/39 from behind the arc. The collective success symbolized by the duo Sheddon Sharpe – Jeremy Grantauthor of a very solid 12/20 away.

Jerami Grant was, in fact, the man who made the change in the fourth quarter. Trailing by ten points, the Blazers put together a lightning-quick sequence: first a power forward dunk, then a full free game winner, served up by Shaddon Sharp. On the next possession, same penalty, this time after a Chris Murray pass. In the process, Jeremy Grant added a swing to the racket and gave Portland an overwhelming momentum.

Defense failure

“We were ten points ahead, and they scored ten points in a row”still regrets Steve Kerr. “I felt like we weren’t getting back on defense after our missed shots, and they were constantly attacking the rim. We’re losing all the close games. I’ve got to find a way to help these guys.”

Steve Kerr also pointed out the use Jimmy Butlerrecognizing that his team was unable to put him in good offensive positions, as illustrated by his 3/11 shooting. But for Stephen Curry, the crux of the problem is not there.

“He’s a unique player because he can impact a game without being noticed on the stat sheet”reminds the leader of Golden State. “He’ll find a way to put it all in.” We just have to organize around him, but tonight I don’t think he was the problem: we were, collectively, defensive. When you score more than 130 points, you must win. »

With this setback, the Warriors are back below the 50% mark (13-14) before a doubleheader against Phoenix on Thursday and Saturday.
