Detroit sets a franchise record in wins against the Nets
Detroit The Pistons have made incredible franchise history with their big win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night.
Detroit enjoyed a spectacular campaign during the 2025-26 NBA season. After having the worst record in the league in 2024, they returned as the most improved team the following year with a playoff berth. This year they continue that progress as they have emerged as one of the best teams at the moment.
Such was the case with the way they dominated Brooklyn in the last game. Detroit blew the torch off the Nets as a team led to a 130-77 victory at home, making franchise history in the process, as noted by NBA insider Brett Siegel.
“The Pistons’ 53-point victory over the Nets tonight is their biggest win in franchise history,” Siegel wrote.
How the Pistons played against the Nets

The Nets were simply no match for the Pistons. Unable to keep up with one of the best teams in the entire game, they fell in embarrassing fashion.
The duel was over by halftime as Detroit led 67-44 after two quarters. Even then, the Pistons still put the hammer down by outscoring Brooklyn 63-33 in the second half, paving the way for their biggest win ever.
Shot selection, possessions (steals and blocks) and turnovers made the difference in this match. The Pistons dominated in all three categories, shooting 56%, recording 23 turnovers and limiting turnovers to just eight. It was the complete opposite for the Nets as they converted just 33% of their overall chances, committed five turnovers and turned the ball over 25 times.
Five players scored in double figures for Detroit in the win. Jalen Duren led the way with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. He shot 8 of 12 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Cade Cunningham was next with 18 points and 12 assists, Dennis Jenkins had 18 points and four rebounds, while Tobias Harris had 11 points and three assists. Meanwhile, Marcus Sasser had 10 points and four assists.
Detroit improved to a 36-12 record on the season, holding first place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are over the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics by 5.5 games.
The Pistons will look forward to their next game, staying at home. They host the Denver Nuggets on February 3rd at 7pm ET.
