Devin Booker has an empathetic message for Kevin Durant, but there’s a catch

PHOENIX – November 24 would signal Kevin Durant returning to Phoenix, in what would be a highly anticipated return. however, Durant was ruled out for personal reasons and deals with family matters.

He will not be available for Monday’s game, which bummed out Phoenix Suns keeper of the shooting stars Devin Booker.

“I hope his family is OK first, but yeah, I’d love to fight him,” Booker said, via AZCentral’s Duane Rankin on X (formerly Twitter).

Booker and Durant were together in Phoenix for two and a half seasons, starting when the latter was traded in an emergency during the 2022-23 trade deadline.

At the time, the duo played seamlessly against each other and showed great promise as potentially the best one-two punch in the league.

However, it did not last long. Between two head coaching changes and high expectations, Durant was traded to the Houston Rocketswhere he made a great contribution.

The next time the Suns play the Rockets will be in December in Houston. However, the next time the two will play in Phoenix won’t be until April.

Depending on how the season goes, he might not get that chance. If both Booker and Durant stay healthy, then it will definitely be a sight to behold.

So far in the 2025-26 campaign, both players have led their teams and produced quality results. The Rockets’ success didn’t surprise anyone, but Phoenix certainly did.

A mix of young players with tons of potential, veterans and Booker himself round out the full roster. Mixing that with head coach Jordan Ott was a quality recipe.

On the other hand, Houston’s head coach, Ime Udoka, has his own team firing on all cylinders. His brand of physicality, offensive efficiency and the right combination of players is leading them to the top.

Even if a matchup between Booker and Durant on Monday can’t happen, it will only make the next matchup that much sweeter if the two go head-to-head.
