Devin Booker receives injury notice before NBA Cup clash against Thunder

Facing the best team in the NBA is a little scary for Phoenix Sunsespecially without Devin Booker. After that The Suns announced that Booker will be evaluated in a week for his right groin, that week is almost here.

Per Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports, the shooting guard was upgraded to suspect ahead of the NBA Cup clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The last time the teams squared off, the Thunder won by just four, their closest of the season. Even still, Phoenix had plenty of mistakes that gave Oklahoma City the game.

That game was also part of the NBA Cup qualifiers. not to mention Booker was part of that NBA Cup run and recorded 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Bringing him back would be an immediate boost, with the Thunder dealing with an apparent injury to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

How Devin Booker’s return could fuel the Suns for the NBA Cup against the Thunder

While Phoenix plays well without a star, his presence alone does wonders for his teammates. The floor opens, the tempo changes, and there’s a clean shot.

Furthermore, it’s another playmaker and extension of the offense for head coach Jordan Ott. The stats may not be where some expect, but Booker makes a significant impact on the win.

They are 13-9 with the franchise cornerstone and had one of their more complete seasons. He has been the vocal leader and orchestrator of how the team wants to run both sides of the ball.

Booker’s return would provide an immediate jolt to an up-and-coming Suns team. They might as well take advantage The Thunder are missing their best player if Gilgeous-Alexander misses Wednesday’s contest.

Either way, it will be a great training ground for one of the league’s youngest teams to take on the reigning champion with more NBA Cup stakes.
