Did Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit the Spurs after the win?
On Tuesday evening, The Oklahoma City Thunder got their sweet and long-awaited compensation against a San Antonio Spurs team that has already beaten them three times this season. Thanks to a huge defensive effort in the third quarter, the Thunder cruised to a 119-98 victory that fired up the Paicom Center crowd.
however, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander plays down the significance of this win in what certainly looks like a blow to the Spurs. After the game, the Thunder star essentially implied that they have more important things to worry about than a regular season win over this current iteration of the Spurs who, frankly, have achieved nothing quite yet.
“Tonight was not our Super Bowl. It was nothing (other than) another game in an 82-game season,” Gilgeous-Alexander told Thunder reporter Paris Lawson.

This feels like a shot at Spurs’ seemingly overblown celebrations every time they get the better of the reigning champions. To San Antonio, beating OKC in the regular season already feels like their championship. But for OKC, it’s nothing more than another page turned in a marathon campaign.
Regardless, no Thunder player or staff will ever deny the fact that this win had to be a good one considering how the Spurs have been coming to their crown all season.
The Thunder regained the lead in a huge win over the Spurs

The Thunder have been playing sub-par basketball (by their standards) of late, and that has brought some concerns about their unbeaten streak to the fore. But make no mistake, OKC is still the best team in the NBA, and they certainly brought their A-game, especially on defense, in the win over the Spurs.
Defense is what OKC built its championship foundation on; they held San Antonio to 40 percent shooting from the field, with Victor Vembanyama’s influence has been muted at both ends of the floor.
