Did the Bulls turn down a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade?



Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has recently dominated headlines following reports that Gianni and his representatives have begun dialogue with the team about a potential trade. Before the Bucks’ game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, the head coach Doc Rivers vehemently denied those rumors and that there were any trade talks between the organization and Giannis.

But that would seem to contradict other rumors, like the one from ESPN Brian Windhorst who stated that Giannis had indeed already asked the Bucks about potential trade. The latest rumor in the story suggests that one of the teams that Giannis Antetokounmpo has been approached about a possible trade Chicago Bullsaccording to Bleacher Nation’s Matt Rooney.

In what is sure to come as a shock to Bulls fans, the organization has reportedly declined interest in Antetokounmpo, citing their commitment to their current young core. The original report came from Lou Canellis of FOX Chicago. What makes the report even more intriguing is the fact that Canellis seemingly has ties to the Bucks star.

In addition to being a sports reporter, Canellis is the founder of the Avli Greek restaurant chain in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. Antetokounmpo is a co-owner locations in Milwaukee, according to Rachel Bernhardt of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with a calf injurybut the trade rumors are unlikely to die down at all. He appeared in 17 games this season, with just over 29 minutes per game. He averaged 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists on 63.9 percent shooting from the field, 43.5 percent from the 3-point line and 63.5 percent from the free throw line.
