Did the Heat go wrong with the return of Tyler Hero?

Orlando’s elimination from the NBA Cup he only confirmed the difficulties of Heat Right now. The Miami franchise remains on a four-game losing streak and five in six games. a few days ago, Tyler Herro made his debut this season and the defender has since played six matches, winning just three times.

So has his return disrupted a team that has done well without him? It would go by very quickly. When we get into the details, we notice that Tyler Hero spent 191 minutes on the floor and that Miami is more prolific (3.6 points more per 100 possessions) than its opponent.

Still, numerically, his tie with Norman Powell, who currently only has 72 minutes, is very good with a Florida team scoring more goals than their opponent during those minutes. Therefore, since nothing seems problematic, you just have to be patient.

“It will work. We will have opportunities to work on it during the matches,” announcement Erik Spoelstra in this duet. “They’re working on this behind the scenes and they’ve only played 72 minutes together. They’re going to improve. They can shoot, they can dribble and everybody wants to make it work. In my experience, it works in the end. Honestly, we need it. We’re going to need this firepower over time.”

Still needing “four or five matches” to restart the machine?

So what’s the problem? It’s more of a bench, albeit an effective one at the start of the season. Substitutes scored only 14.6 points per 100 possessions in the last six matches!

“It will take time”warns Norman Powell about the alchemy to be found in rotations. “When players are injured and then come back, it is always difficult to establish a certain style of play and there is always an adjustment period. It will take four or five more matches to rebuild the chemistry.”

Maybe also the revolution began in attack from Erik Spoelstra and his troops, with a faster and more energetic style, is beginning to be better understood by opposing defenses.

“We have a few days off where we can get back in the room, work on some stuff and regroup,” says Tyler Hero. “We are in difficult times right now, that is obvious, but we will continue to fight, to come back, as we have always done.”
